Temu and AliExpress still beat almost everyone on price for small goods, but the gap is smaller than it was. Import charges now show up at checkout, or with the carrier on delivery.
The fix on both sites is the same: buy items that ship from US warehouses, or from AliExpress Choice, and treat reviews with photos as the only reviews that count.

Fine print to check at any marketplaces store

- Where it ships from. Local-warehouse items arrive faster and skip import charges. They often cost only slightly more.
- Reviews with photos. Star ratings are easy to game. Photos from buyers show the real color, size and finish.
- Don’t confirm early. Confirming delivery before you’ve checked the item can close your dispute window.
- Your data. Use a card with virtual numbers or a wallet like PayPal, and review app permissions after you install.

Is Temu or AliExpress cheaper now?
It depends on the item and where it ships from. For household basics Temu is often lower. For electronics parts, AliExpress usually has more choice. Compare the total after import charges.
Do I pay import fees on Temu and AliExpress?
Items shipped from overseas can carry US import charges since August 2025. They’re shown at checkout or billed by the carrier. US-warehouse items don’t carry them.
Is it safe to shop on Temu?
Orders arrive and returns work, but quality varies a lot, and several US states have sued Temu over data practices, which Temu disputes. Limit app permissions and pay through a wallet.
How long does AliExpress take to ship to the US?
Choice orders usually take about 5 to 10 business days. Other sellers can take two to six weeks.
